Ms. Katie Darvin is committed to using evidence-based treatments to treat emotional and behavioral difficulties in children, adolescents, and adults using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Independence-Focused Therapy, and Behavioral Parent Training. While using the available evidence-based treatments, Katie values collaboration with clients to help them meet their goals, understanding that each person’s experience is unique. Katie works with clients in this way to address anxiety disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder, elimination disorders, child and adolescent defiance, habit reversal, emotion dysregulation, executive functioning, and interpersonal skills.
Katie is currently completing her doctorate in clinical psychology at Long Island University, Post. Her current research, chaired by Dr. Camilo Ortiz, focuses on the development and acceptability of an independence-based bibliotherapy intervention for preschool-age children.
