About Dr. Mia Inserra

Dr. Inserra is a postdoctoral psychology fellow who provides warm, collaborative, and evidence-based care grounded in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). She specializes in working with children, adolescents, young adults, and parents to address a range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, OCD, oppositional behaviors, elimination issues, trauma, and psychosocial stressors.

Dr. Inserra completed her APA-accredited internship at Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, where she treated individuals across the lifespan experiencing a variety of psychological challenges, including serious mental illness. She has also provided care to children and families at the New York City Children’s Center Intensive Day Treatment Program and at The New York Foundling’s mental health clinic for youth impacted by the foster care system.

Dr. Inserra earned her doctorate in clinical psychology (Psy.D.) from Long Island University Post, where she was awarded the Dean’s Award for Academic Excellence. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Neuroscience from Colgate University. Her research focuses on innovative approaches to treating child anxiety by promoting independence, with attention to parents’ perspectives on treatment acceptability.
